Supporting Critical Research
Research has shown that there is an overall lack of high quality research either on the impact of unionization in construction, or on factors which could positively affect the future of union construction in Massachusetts. In most areas of the debate about unionization and construction, we are faced with very elementary and simplistic research studies. Given the stakes for our industry and its workers, as well as the larger public policy surrounding the construction industry, it is imperative that more research be funded and conducted.
TCI has established a Research Grants Program to fund the industry’s most critical research on unionization and construction in Massachusetts, at the finest institutions of higher education and other research institutions throughout the country. Knowledge developed through the research will be disseminated to the construction industry, its consumers, and policy makers through publications, presentations, the web, and training programs.
